The story
The Bellini was invented in the 1930s by Giuseppe Cipriani at Harry's Bar in Venice, Italy. The drink was named after the Venetian painter Giovanni Bellini due to its distinctive pink hue, which reminded Cipriani of the color of a Bellini painting. It became a popular cocktail in the 1980s, especially in the United States.
